The Life Cycle & Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operational and SCM aspects of ongoing launch projects, and in addition to his planning responsibility, acts as a liaison with extended project teams and global SCM operational excellence. He evaluates project issues and find solutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer/partner satisfaction goals and objectives. He ensures the timely implementation of global tools and excellence in the supply chain of Novartis's operational standards. He develops mechanisms to monitor the project's progress and for intervention and problem resolution with internal partners: Commercial and Marketing teams, BD&L, BPA and global/regional counterparts. Overall responsibility for Project Management of launches and E2E planning of brands in his responsibility (transfers, critical changes, divestments and prunings) for Innovative Medicines in Mexico.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Life Cycle & Planning Manager oversees and coordinates the operational and SCM aspects of ongoing launch projects, acting as a liaison with extended project teams and global SCM operational excellence.
  • Leads SCM activities for Pharmaceutical Operations in Mexico to launch, transfer, divest, or prune existing products within the local market.
  • Implements product LCM plans, meeting agendas and summaries, schedules, and action plans, collaborating with local Commercial and Marketing teams, BD&L, or the region.
  • Supports or leads cross-functional project teams, assigning action items, raising and resolving related issues, and following up to ensure a successful conclusion.
  • Ensures adequate and continuous supply of finished products to customers in the country according to their demand, including S&BP, demand/supply planning, local repackaging, launch or transfer processes and master data update and maintainance for the products of his responsibility
  • Delivers Supply Chain team numbers: Customer Service Level (CSL), customer satisfaction, costs (PCE as part of COGS), working capital (inventory targets for Mexico), write-offs, etc.
  • Provides effective communication within the business community about supply and demand signals and effectively manages demand and inventory during bottlenecks and supply crises.
  • Ensures data quality in line with GMD at local and global levels and its implications in master data.
  • Ensures all processes (SOP) are properly documented, followed, and reviewed periodically.
  • Participates and supports global initiatives such as collaborative planning, direct plant communications, bottleneck management activities, pruning, product divestment, direct shipments, etc


Main Requirements:

  • University degree in Finance or SCM, SAP, PMO certification, APICS CPM certification, an asset.
  • Language: Bilingual (Spanish and English).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in SCM and project management businesses preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Competence Profile (Skills) Result oriented. Proactivity. Decision-making. Adaptability.
  • Specific Professional Competencies Knowledge in quality systems. Knowledge in production processes. Knowledge in Laws, regulations and norms applicable to the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Advanced knowledge in Office Package. SAP system handling.
  • Compliance level of norms, policies and Best Practices (GMPs).
